"This new document puts more emphasis on the church’s moral teaching about sexuality. It says that although having a “homosexual inclination” is not itself a sin, homosexual sex is a sin — as are premarital sex and adultery. The answer in all these situations is chastity.
The document says that although the church teaches that homosexuality is “objectively disordered” — a teaching in the catechism that says homosexual acts violate the natural law — the church is not saying that homosexual people themselves are disordered or “rendered morally defective by this inclination.” -
I find several things about this article upsetting. The first is that chastity seems to be the go to solution for everything. Of all the funds for safe sex with the goal of AIDS prevention from America, one third, ONE THIRD, must be used in abstinence only education. It doesn't seem to be very effective. Abstinance is all good when everyone around you believes in it also, and you live in a small town where this is no one you'd want to have sex with anyway, but in countries with so many other problems, saying no to sex is not as easy as being given a promise ring by your father.
The second thing is: What is this natural law that the Catholic Church seemingly knows everything about? The Catholic natural law certainly goes against Jefferson's inalienable rights of "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness." One of the principles of natural law is that it must be open to interpretation. Everyone is so busy claiming that their natural law is the natural law.
I hate that people are so blind that they can't put themselves into other people's shoes. A different gene, and they too could be gay. After New Jersey's Court decision, and The GOPs efforts to bring gay marriage back up as an issue, I want to go up to them and ask "What if you couldn't marry the person that you love?" It just seems to indiscribably smug of people to think they are right.

I dunno - verdict's out on whether being gay is completely genetic or not. But other than that, I agree with everything you say.
Evolution is natural law - the Catholic church doesn't believe in that either.
